From Governor Macquarie to Lady Fairfax, the centrepiece of Camden’s newest estate is the famous Catherine Park House.

Positioned high up on the hill, Catherine Park House has been a striking structure of the landscape since its original completion in 1857. After undergoing significant modifications in the 1930s-40s, the Victorian Italianate home’s façade evolved to the Georgian Revival style still seen today.

Grandly overlooking the lands below, Catherine Park House is the epicentre of the new Catherine Park Estate.

After varying extensions and additions by previous owners, a culturally and historically sensitive restoration of Catherine Park House was undertaken in 2012 when Lady Mary Fairfax purchased the land on whichCatherine Park Estate is now being established. Lady Fairfax’s commitment to the caring restoration of the home epitomises an empathetic relationship to its historical importance.

Sydney’s newest residential development – Catherine Park Estate – was officially launched at the end of March. The high tea event was held within the grounds of Catherine Park House, which dates back to the 1830s and forms the historical epicentre of the community. It was attended by locals and members of Sydney’s development community. Catherine Park Estate is the third development from the award-winning Harrington Estates, developer of Harrington Grove, the UDIA 2014 National Residential Development of the Year. 

Catherine Park Estate has been designed with careful and deliberate synergy between the architects, planners and builders to ensure it is both beautiful and functional. Buyers will be able to choose from large 400m² to 600m² homesites to build on. Alternatively they can choose from a uniquely designed completed home.

Catherine Park House, in the epicentre of Catherine Park Estate, has recently been historically restored to the highest standard. It has undergone a complete transformation both indoors and outdoors, evoking a newfound sophistication and elegance of a bygone era.

While retaining the same charm, the façade of the grand manor house has been freshened up with paint, a new balustrade and new finishes that abide by its historical integrity. The driveway and carriage loop have been topped with fresh gravel to enhance aesthetics and access, and special attention has been invested into the installation of a new water feature that greets people as they come up the extended driveway.
