The new Western Sydney Airport, set to open in 2026, is a transformational infrastructure project that will generate an economic boom for South West Sydney, which is great news for homebuyers looking to call the region home.
As one of the largest infrastructure projects in Australia, the airport, coupled with supporting infrastructure development including roads, public transport, business hubs and housing estates, will herald new prosperity for Sydney’s South West and its residents.
Major earthworks on the new airport site are now underway and it’s estimated that 11,000 jobs will be created during the construction phase alone. Longer term the airport will be the catalyst for supporting 200,000 jobs in the region allowing residents to live the dream of working close to home.
While most of Sydney’s property prices decline, prices in the south west region are holding firm. Property prices across Sydney fell 10.5 per cent last year, the South West Sydney region bucked that trend, with a Hotspotting report finding that property prices across the Camden LGA have risen between 2 per cent and 8 per cent over the 12 months to March 2019.
The new high-skill jobs hub, to be located close to the new airport in Badgerys Creek, will include employment opportunities in, amongst other industries, aerospace and defence, manufacturing, healthcare, freight and logistics, agribusiness, education and research and development. The convenience and pleasure of working close to home will soon become much more attainable for residents of South West Sydney.
New road/rail links for South West Sydney residents
The NSW State Government is driving a 10-year, $4.1 billion road investment program for Western Sydney that will cater for residents of Catherine Park Estate.
Included in the roads program is the new Werrington Arterial Road as well as upgrades to Bringelly Road, The Northern Road and the intersection of Ross Street and the Great Western Highway at Glenbrook. The new M12 Motorway, running from the M7 in the east to The Northern Road in the west, will provide access to Western Sydney Airport and deliver a strong link to South West Sydney.
The NSW Government has also recently announced the North South Rail Link, which will become the transport spine for the Western Parkland City, connecting travellers from the airport and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis to St Marys and the rest of Sydney’s rail system.
The future for our region is certainly very exciting and we’re looking forward to being a part of this growth and welcoming new home buyers to Catherine Park Estate.
