With warmer weather upon us, there’s no better time than now to head outdoors and fulfil your Springtime resolution to exercise more. You couldn’t live in a better place than Catherine Park Estate to get outdoors and move your body. Over winter we’ve been busy installing new outdoor exercise equipment at Catherine Park Oval, alongside the children’s play area.
Why not go for a walk or run on our many purpose-built paths and incorporate a workout on the new outdoor equipment? Or you might prefer a bike ride on our extensive bike paths, followed by an outdoor workout.
Catherine Park Oval’s new outdoor gym equipment is designed to promote greater cardio fitness, strength and mobility and provide an enjoyable space to workout. And you also get the added bonus of being outdoors and interacting with other like-minded people in your local community. You might even make a new friend, or meet up with your existing groups, like your mother’s groups or a bunch of friends. You might even entice your kids to put down their device and join you for an outdoor workout.
Suitable for all fitness levels
The equipment is suitable for all fitness levels. Each item of equipment allows flexibility to cater to the various strength, fitness and agility levels of the people using it.
Our two outdoor multi-stations, easily located at Catherine Park Oval, include a step-up station, leg press, push-up bars, chest press station, sit-up bench, and pull-down bench. Each includes easy to follow instructional signage to guide you through the correct techniques to achieve a great and productive workout.
So take advantage of the beautiful Spring weather and kickstart your new exercise routine. We all know the amazing benefits that exercise provides for your physical health, but did you know how exercise can benefit your mental health too?
Mental health benefits of exercise
Studies show that exercise can be as effective as therapy and medication when it comes to treating mild-moderate depression. According to leading mental health charity Beyond Blue, there are many ways that exercise positively influences your mental health. These include:
- Promoting the release of feel-good chemicals in your brain, like endorphins and serotonin.
- Helping you sleep better so you rest fully at night and feel more energised during the day.
- Giving you a sense of accomplishment as your fitness improves and you start achieving your goals.
- Exercise is usually a shared activity with others, so you get the added benefits of social connection.
So, what are you waiting for? Put on that activewear and race down to the Catherine Park Oval on Catherine Park Drive without delay.
You won’t regret it.
